Sir Edward Elgar conducted the inaugural concert of the City of Birmingham Orchestra in 1920. Over the nine decades since, although remaining firmly rooted in Birmingham, the orchestra has grown into a 90-piece ensemble with a worldwide reputation. Under the baton of its young music director Andris Nelsons, the orchestra is joined by prize-winning and critically acclaimed pianist Paul Lewis, a musician celebrated for his considered and profound interpretations of the classical repertoire.
