A worldwide reputation, made in Birmingham - Edward Elgar was a Midlander through and through. Over the weekend of Elgar's 150th birthday, Sakari Oramo conducts three great choruses, ten world-class soloists and the Orchestra Elgar helped found, in the great choral triptych that Elgar wrote for Birmingham.
This remarkable anniversary weekend begins with the work that many consider to be Elgar's masterpiece - The Dream of Gerontius. One critic described Oramo's 2000 Centenary performance of Gerontius as one of the most moving experiences in his career; be sure to book early this time.
