Choruses

Under the direction of Chorus Director Simon Halsey, the renowned City of Birmingham Symphony Choruses cater for all ages from seven to seventy. This unique choral set up is regularly in demand across the globe, working with the CBSO and many other leading orchestras in concerts, recordings, radio and TV broadcasts.

City of Birmingham Symphony Chorus (Adults)
 CBSC is an auditioned SATB choir for singers aged 18 and over.
City of Birmingham Symphony Youth Chorus (Seniors)
 CBSYC seniors is an auditioned choir open to girls from school year 9 to age 21.
City of Birmingham Symphony Youth Chorus (Juniors)
 CBSYC Juniors is an auditioned choir open to boys and girls in school years 4 - 8.
City of Birmingham Young Voices
 CBYV is an unauditioned community choir for mixed voices, from school year 9 to age 21.
CBSO Boys' Choir in partnership with Barclays Wealth
 CBSO Boys' Choir is an unauditioned choir for boys in school years 7 - 13.

FOR FULL-TIME STUDENTS IN FURTHER & HIGHER EDUCATION

The CBSO is launching an exciting new opportunity for young tenors and basses - the chance to win a choral scholarship with the City of Birmingham Symphony Chorus! There are 12 places available to support male singers, aged 18 and over, who are in full-time education. For further information and to download an application form, please click here.

Sing Up
The CBSO Chorus department is also involved in Sing Up, a government-funded four year National Singing Programme, aiming to make sure that singing is at the heart of every primary school child’s life.
